Sustainable Planning And Development

The concept of sustainable development hinges around the development that meets the needs of the present generation without jeopardizing the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.

That is to say the concept has two in built facets : firstly-to meet the needs of present generation, and, secondly - without jeopardizing the needs of future generations. However, the present generation comprises of large section of excluded population like elderly, disabled, urban poor and informal sector, backwards, etc.; without whose inclusion, there cannot be sustainable development of the present generation which calls for inclusive development to include already excluded. Thus, the thrust of the concept needs to focus on ‘Inclusive Sustainable Development’.
