Settlement Pattern

Settlement:
A settlement is a place where people live. Settlement patterns are settlements cluster in various shapes and sizes. The inhabitants are engaged in primary activities such as farming, fishing and mining.

Dispersed settlement pattern: Dispersed settlements are in the form of isolated houses scatter in large area. Generally occurs in rural and  hilly places.

Linear settlement: In this type of settlement grouping of houses occur in line and mostly found along roads, railway tracks and coasts or river banks.

Nucleated settlement: These are in the form of grouping of houses around a center area and are found around junctions.
