It is the FORM of the network that gives the SHAPE of any city. 

Grid-Iron:

Roads crossing at right angles. Example Chandigarh, India

Radio-Centric:


Radial roads with concentric circles. Example: Vienna, Austria

Radial and Rectangular :



Combination of radial and grid-iron pattern. Example: New Delhi, India
