Need Assessment Report – Solid Waste Management

Assessment of existing status of solid waste management (SWM) is a pre-requisite to formulation of action plan. Based on waste generation and after ascertaining its composition, management strategies could be designed. Need Assessment is an in-depth exercise to collect information on waste generation, its sources and characteristics of waste as well as steps needed to meet compliance with Municipal Solid Waste Management and Handling Rules 2000. Based on this assessment study, an attempt is being made to suggest indicative action plan incorporating possible strategies and guidelines for solid waste management in VNIT Campus.
