The chart below shows the amount of brigthness in lumes you can expect from different wattage light bulbs. The LED bulbs require much less wattage than the CFL or Incandescent light bulbs, which is why LED bulbs are more energy-efficient and long lasting than the other types of bulb...

Incandescent Watts    CFL Watts     LED Watts         Lumes (Light output)
40                             8 - 12            6 - 9                     400 - 500
60                            13 - 18           8 - 12.5                 650 - 900
75-100                      18 - 22           13+                      1100 - 1750
100(tube)                  23 -30            16 - 20                 1800+
150                          30 - 55            25 - 28                 2780

At present, most of the office buildings, Institutes and Industries are lighted by using 36W & 28W Fluorescent Tube lights.

Consumption of these Lights is as below:

1. 36W Fluorescent Tube light with Electronic Choke : 33 to 36W
2. 36W FTL with Copper Choke :52W
3. 28W T5 FTL electronic choke :28 to 30W

All these can be replaced by energy efficient LED light as below:
1. 36W FTL can be replaced by 16W to 18W LED tube
2. 28W T5 FTL can be replaced by 12W LED Tube Light

POWER SAVING
Approximate power saving will be as below:

Existing Power consumption 36W
Proposed  18W
Power Saving  50%
Utilization   12*30days

Calculation
1Unit =  KWHr
So for one tube light
Unit per month  = 18 units
LED tube light  = 9 Units

Tariff after 200 Units 10 Rs

Cost per month Proposed Rs 90
Saving Per month Rs.  50%

Overall 50% saving in Light Bill

Advantages / Benifits of LEDs over Fluorescent Tubes (CFL)

Long Term Cost : LEDs are more expensive initially than fluorescent lights and CFL's, but they can provide huge potential savings over the long term. Incandescent lights last for 800 to 1500 hours, fluorescent lights last up to 10,000 hours, While LEDs can last up to 60,000 hours.

Maintenance : Due to the longer lifespan of an LED bulb over a fluorescent tube, maintenance and replacement times can be reduced when LEDs are used.

Noise : They tend to emit clicking and popping sounds and can produce a low buzzing sound when been used for a significant amount of time. LEDs do not have this problem and operate silently.

Colour : Fluorescents produce only a cold blue or white light. LEDs provide all kind of different colours easily for any purpose, which makes them so adaptable.

Environmental Impact : Mercury in Fluorescent lights and its vapour is extremely hazardous to both humans and the environment. LEDs are completely safe and do not contain such poisonous materials.

Instant On : LEDs light up as soon as an electrical current is passed through them. Fluorescents do not do this and require time to flicker before staying on.  LEDs provide instant light and instant full illumination.

Energy Consumption : LEDs consume far less power than fluorescent tubes.

Durable : Because LEDs are not made of glass and are hollow inside. They are less fragile than both fluorescent and incandescent bulbs.

No Heat : While fluorescent tubes emit less heat than incandescent and halogen bulbs, they still produce much more than LEDs. LEDs are lukewarm to the touch and therefore carry less risk of causing an accidental fire or burn.

There is about 80% saving of electricity and 10 ten times life greater of Discharge lamps(fluorescent lights and compact fluorescent lights ) compared to filament lamps(Incandescent lights ).

And there is around 50% to 60% saving of electricity by the use of LED's as compared to discharge lamps. And a life of around 40,000 to 60,000 hours compared to that of 5000 - 15000 hrs in case of discharge lamps. The filament lamps having a life of just 1000 to 3000 hours.

So you can see the overall electricity and money saving by using LED lights over filament and discharge lights.

LED Benefits

Can sustain high light output under demanding operating conditions.

Maintenance-free operation as Degrade over a period of many years or even decades of continuous operation.

Efficient at converting electric power into visible light many folds than conventional bulbs or tubes.

This high efficiency lowers the energy consumption along with substantial savings in air conditioning costs.(less secondary heat generation).

Easy disposal through normal means. The tiny semiconductor chip is safely encapsulated and does not contain harmful materials such as lead or mercury that can be damaging to human health and the environment.
