Bharat bhawan site is on gently sloping plateau overlooking the lake in bhopal. Natural contour have been used to create a series of terraces and courtyards in the the complex.
In entrance of the complex the visitor has the choice of following the path of terraces cascading down to the lake, or descending to the three courtyards which provide access to the majority of the cultural facilities.
Lighting and ventilation with in the building are provided by top lights (from the concrete shells and from slots along the terrace parapets ).
