1 (a) Assuming that it is true that 2 in 10 accidents are due to fatigue, find the probability that (i) exactly 2 of 8 accidents will be due fatigue (ii) at least 2 of 8 accidents will be due to fatigue
(b) It is known from past experience that in a certain plant there are on the average 4 industrial accidents per month. find the probability that in a given year will be less then 4 accidents. Assume-Poisson distribution (e = 0.0183)
2. A population consists of five numbers (2,3,6,8,11). Consider all possible samples of size two, which can be drawn with replacement from this population. Calculate the standard error of sample mean.
3 (a) In a certain sample of 2000 families; 1400 families is consumers of tea. Out of 1800 Hindu families, 1236 families consume tea. Use Chi-Square test and state whether there is any significant difference between consumption of tea among Hindu and non-Hindu famlies
(b) What is Chi-Square test of goodness of fit? What conditions are necessary while applying this test?
4. (a) Discuss in details the importance of estimation theory In decision making in the face of uncertainty.
(b) Describe the important properties of a good estimator.
5. (a) Four bad apples are mixed accidentally with 20 good apples. Obtain the probability distribution of the number of bad apples in a draw of 2 apples at random.
