EVOLUTION 1898-1915
Though India had a tradition of town planning and town building since days of Mohenjodaro and Harappa, the evolution of current town planning practice can be traced back to the year of 1898, when the Bombay improvement trust was created under the city of Bombay improvement act of the year . ........
 
1915-1930 : By 1915 some of the States had begun to enact Town Planning Legislations. The earliest Town Planning laws were the Bombay
Town Planning Act. 1915, the U.P Town Improvement Act. 1919 and the Madras Town Planning Act 1920.........

1930-1950 : The Second World War seemed to have considerably lulled planning activities in India as it did in most of the countries round the world during 1930s and 1940s.....
