VIGNANA JYOTHI INSTITUTE OF MANAGEMENT
Srinath Advani

Designing an institutional campus is extremely challenging for an architect, especially when the site lies near a congested urban zone and provides an opportunity for creative design. It allows the architect to respond to the earth's contours, experiment with the organisation of built and un-built space, leverage geometry in forms and dabble with durable finishes.
In 2008, Advani and Associates successfully executed the design that had won them the competition floated by Vignana Jyothi, for
their sensitivity to the site. Srinath elaborates, 'We responded  to the sloping site by proposing an intimate cluster of building blocks and placing an auditorium,
an open-air amphitheatre and a basement where we could  take advantage of the large natural  depressions. We also designed the interconnecting circulation
areas so that they would take up less than 17% of the built-up area, which is quite a feat in itself!'
