Growth with Planning-Jaipur Metropolitan district Master Plan 2025

Having embraced the two planning imperatives, the first step in the plan preparation was identifying the urban nodes for focused growth and development within the district, which would be the counter-magnets to Jaipur City

While the 2001 census data is the most reliable available population data, the urban projections for the district have been taken at a g% increase from the projections extrapolated from the Census 200 data. This is based on the following factors: first, Rajasthan at 23.38%uhan population is still below the national urban rate of 23.38% second, Rajasthan's urban growth rate at 8% between grand 2001 was higher than the national average rate of a per year, thind the district includes laipur which is the capital city and the state's largest metropolitan city and therefore a migratory magnet. Therefore using past trends to calculate the expected urban increase in the district, would likely result in an under estimation i

Hence the MMDP 2025 projections accommodate an additional vs increase for urban growth within the district than the population projected by the trend analyses of the census data. while adopting the projected figures for rural growth without any increment. The expected urban population in the district by year 2005 is fig lakh going by past decadal trends. This master plan provides for an additional population buffer for urban growth of about so 10 lakhs

The MMDP 2025 recommends the focused development of a satellite urban areas in Jaipur District, around Jaipur city in order for such deterministic planning to succeed and the ta proposed satellite cities (PSC) to become urban counter-magnets to Jaipur, economic incentives and infrastructure will need to be prioritized towards the PSCS by the state government. If implemented, such an intervention will transform the expected urban sprawl to a planned urban strategy with improved economics, equity and environment. The data on the population, infrastructure and natural environment of every single village and town in the district has been mapped and mathematical values determined

Parameters for Selecting the Proposed Satellite Cities

The proposed satellite cities (PSC) for focused urban development have been selected on

the basis of six parameters:

1. Potential for economic sustainability
2. Existing road networks
3. Existing and anticipated physical infrastructure
4-Strategic location for rural access
5- Existing social infrastructure
6. Low environmental impact
