Reinterpretation of the trad itional culture and human bonding and connection with the cow is an important aspect to study.
An incremental solution rather than an industrial one would have helped retain the identity of the cow.
Somewhere in the transformation from an intimate GAUSHALA the cow which is the hero seems to have lost its scale.
From Vedic t imes cows were considered as the symbol of healt h, wea lth and wisdom. In India in totality we have 37 such species of what we
call Indian desi cows. Out of which, the Sahiwal, Gir, Red Sindhi, Tharparkar and Rathi are best known for milking attributes. But, during the
1970s there was 'White Revolution' in India because the country was facing shortage of milk as the indigenous breed just gave 8-10 litres of
milk and we were at the phase of growth, so we donated our cows outside for public use but still then it wasn't meeting the required amount.
Thus to resolve this issue and to experiment on the project, the site had to be chosen which has an overall setup which was already in
business and has sim ilar objectives which their foundations are linked to. Hence, this project will be an ideal prototype focusing on the expansion
of organization that aims to rehabilitate the indigenous species and multiplying the growth so as to revive of rural economy and bring the
symbiotic balance.
This project deals with the preservation and rescue of indigenous cows and utilization of its byproducts for social and economic sustainability.
The aim of the project is to redesign and upgrade the Shantidhara goshalas for the preservation and multiplication of the indigenous cows and
expansion of dairy, agriculture, bio medicine and other organic products to establish economic sustainability. This project will also help in establishing shelters for deprived animals to promote animal rights and to integrate larger social obligations towards animals and human coexistence. The setup which will be a middle ground between the vernacular practices and modern technologies which will increase employment and strengthen our domestic economy. The overall zoning of the site is one in such a way that it has easy maintenance, ease of access and at the same t ime least possible built intervention so as to preserve maximum number of green fields.
