Jury Comments
• The ideology behind the project is the motivation to solve human problems. Architecture has the capability to bring out and solve some of the things, and make people aware of the surrounding.
• The built form is articulated and the plan is sensible, but it doesn't go well with the intent of the project.
• Emphasis should have been on the site plan, as sustainability is a concern of the project.

Human beings, unlike many creatures, have the power to willingly break a pre-existing natural order of a place to create a newer one that suit their needs. Cities hold more than
half the population of all humans on earth but they take up Less than 1% of the Liveable area on the planet. As a resu lt, behavioural, social, environmental and psychological problems arise because meeting basic needs for every individual becomes arduous. For a predominant population residing in urbanised areas, the sky is sometimes the only natural element they can visually connect with, provided the air is not polluted as much. The project context takes into consideration t he climate-sensitive urban regions (with dense population) on a global scale to find potential sites for the indirect mitigation of climate change as a global trend by addressing the impact of di rty urbanisation.
Forth is, the Elliots beach which Lies in Chennai, South India is taken into consideration because of its underlying potential opportunities as an upcoming active public space in the city, that also vastly improves the image of the city perceived by its inhabitants. Intervention would be in a manner which is inclusive of all the sites existing natural, cultural and urban constituents. The thesis was carried forth on a qualitative basis and it experiments primarily using design direction, to build codependency between the built environment and the beings that inhabit it through generative practices (resource + energy storage), socia l cohesion (multi-user group program Layering) and opportunities to prioritise economic, indigenous products and renewable sources as an alternative, to proliferate a carbon-negative Lifestyle through social induction (and trends) in a public space
and secondarily, to take a holistic approach to address and envisage (through dialog ue) the implications of urbanisation on the city of Chennai (narrowed down, potentially sensitive site) through arch itecture using Logical, symbolic and emotional conflict

Taken from : ARCHIVING ARCHITECTURAL THESIS 2020 - "Awards for Excellence in Architectural Thesis" the annual program conducted by the Council of Architecture through its academic unit Council of Architecture Training and Research Centre (COA TRC) completed its eleventh cycle in 2016.
