General Vastu Tips :-
1.Cash boxes can be located in the room towards the North (treasury). But if the box is heavy (such as a safe, heavy almirah) then it should be kept in the South¬west corner and the door of the almirah should open towards the North.
2.If the north-east area is untidy or unshapely, the well being of male issues is found to be precarious.
3.One should sleep with his head pointing towards the South.
4.While Taking meals the plate should be in South-East.
5.All the doors should open inside so that the energy may remain inside.
6.The hinges of doors should be noiseless. If so. The hinges may be greased periodically.
7.The doors should open towards right hand.
8.Bed should not be put under a beam.
9.There should not be five corners in the ceiling of a room.
10.No doors or windows should be provided on South-West side.
11. Almirahs and beds should be set very close to the South - West wall and at a distance from the north - east wall.
12.A house should not have paintings, which depicts depressing scenes, i.e. like an old woman crying, scenes of war or poverty. It should have picture of say, a sunrise, an ocean, mountains, flowers or laughing children.
13.Tall trees are nowhere recommended close to the main building. For trees the south in itself is good and so is the west. No tree should be grown in the north and the east. The one at the north-east is the worst.
14.Small decorative plants and shrubs may be grown in the north and the east. The height should not exceed, say, half a meter at the north-east increasing gradually to not more than 1.5 meter as one moves from the north-east to the north-west or to the south-east end.
Except rose and a few medicinal ones, all thorny plants give rise to tensions in the environment. Plants exuding white sap should also be kept off. Lime and karonda etc. are OK in an orchard but not in residence or business premises.
15. Amongst the beneficial plants, the best is Tulsi. It is commendable to keep at least one Tulsi plant in the north-east area of the premises, but its height should not exceed 1.5 meter.
16.Cactus should not be planted or kept in the house.
17.In the South-West Corner of the house one should sleep pointing his head towards south.
18.If north of any house is blocked it blocks prosperity.
19.Water flowing/water fountain from north to east is very good.
20. First of all the direction and shape of the plot has to be considered well. A construction on quadrangular, rectangular or square plot is beneficial and good from all aspects.
21. Big plot fetches prosperity, but it should not be having cleavage or cracks any where.
22. Triangular shaped plot should not be selected for constructing a building. It is inauspicious.
23. A small narrow plot in between two big plots is also not good, because owner of the building on such plot always remains in troubles.
24. If the length of the plot in east-west direction is more than that in north-south direction, it is better.
25.If there is more open vacant space in south than in north, it will lead to destruction and downfall whether it is in the house or a industry, or in a temple or a hut.
26. It is auspicious if there is more open space in the east than in the west; and more open space in the north than in the south.
27.While sleeping head should be kept in the east or south. Never sleep with feet towards south or east.
28. Water tanks on the roof in the south-west direction are auspicious. These should never be placed in north or north-east (eeshan) corner.
29. Open space should be kept all around the building.
30. Building should be constructed such that it is higher in the south-west and lower in the north-east. Walls should also be made in this manner.
31.Underground water tank (for storage of water) well, hand-pump, boring etc. should be built in north-east direction only. Height of these water bodies should never be above the plinth level of the main building.
32.As far as possible there should be only one main door of the house, which should be adorned with auspicious symbols.
33. All the doors and windows should be of the same height upper edges being in the same straight line.
34. In the same line, the plot having road on the east-north directions is better to be selected.
35.The essence of Vaastu Shastra is actually to make the house in total conformity with the utilisation of five basic materials, viz, earth, water, air, fire, space for specific functions in the directions of places determined for the same.For example, south-east corner is best for fire (kitchen etc.) North-West direction for air and the North-East direction for attaining the bliss for divine favour.
36. If there is a well or any other pit in the south-east, south-west or north-west direction, there will always be quarrels in the family and there will be no peace.
37.West portion of the land should be raised and there should be slope towards the east, which is auspicious.
38. Four sided (square) shaped plot of land is considered to be the best as per Vaastu Shastra.
39. A temple can have doors on all the four sides.
40.If living in a newly built house is stared without worshipping Vaastu, several troubles and difficulties arise in the family. Therefore Vaastu Poojan is must.
41.For interior decoration of the house, pictures and scenes of war and battles, idols/statues of demons, pictures of pig (boar), leopard, tiger, jackal, serpent, eagle, owl, pigeon, hawk, crow, crane etc. are not auspicious. These should not be put on the walls in the house for decoration.
42.Flow of water and its outlet in the directions other than east, north-west, north-east and north is inauspicious and causes troubles.
43.If extension is to be made, it should be extended in all the sides. Extension only in one side is not auspicious.
44. If the earth (soil) on the land site is excavated and removed, and fresh pure earth from elsewhere is filled in it, there remains no defect of Shalya in the land.
45. Shadow of trees falling on the building in the duration 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. is inauspicious and causes troubles.
46. If more than one door are required, doors should be constructed in the positions as suggested in the Vaastu-Shastra, but no two doors be opposite each other.
47. Guest room or drawing room should be in the north or west direction.
48. Room for the watchman or guard should be built near the gate in the boundary wall on the left side. His quarter should be on the left side of the gate.
49.Cupboard in the wall should be in southern and western part of the wall.
50.Ratio of Length and breadth of the building should be normally 1:1,1:1.5,or maximum 1:2, it should not exceed 1:2 in all circumstances.
51.Porch should not touch the North or East compound wall.
52.Anything underground should be in north or east and any thing above ground should be south or west

6. समृद्धि के लिए घर से निकलने से पूर्व दही खाएं अथवा मछली का दर्शन करें।
7. घर में या घर के बाहर पानी को इकट्ठा न रहने दें। इससे नकारात्मकता का संचार होता है।
8. घर में मकड़ी का जाल नहीं लगने दें, अन्यथा धन की हानि होगी।
9. भोजन पकाते समय आपका मुंह आग्नेय कोण में पूर्व की ओर होना चाहिए तथा पूर्व की ओर ही मुंह करके खाना चाहिए।
10. पूजा सुबह 06 से 08 बजे के बीच भूमि पर ऊनी आसन बिछा कर पूर्व या उत्तर की ओर मुंह करके बैठ कर करनी चाहिए।
11. घर में सपन्नता लाने के लिए पूजा घर के पास ईशान कोण में सदैव जल का एक कलश भरकर रखें।
12. घर में कभी भी झाड़ू को खड़ा करके नहीं रखें, उसे पैर नहीं लगाएं, न ही उसके ऊपर से गुजरे अन्यथा घर में बरकत की कमी हो जाती है।
13. धूप, आरती, दीप, पूजा अग्नि जैसे पवित्रता के प्रतिक साधनों को मुंह से फूंक मारकर नहीं बुझाएं।
14. मंदिर में धूप, अगरबत्ती व हवन कुंड की सामग्री दक्षिण पूर्व में रखें।
15. घर के मुख्य द्वार पर गणेश जी को चढ़ाए गए सिंदूर से दायीं तरफ स्वास्तिक बनाएं।
16. घर में जूते-चप्पल इधर-उधर बिखेर कर या उल्टे सीधे करके नहीं रखने चाहिए इससे घर में अशांति उत्पन्न होती है।
17.शाम के समय सोना नहीं चाहिए। रात्रि में सोने से पहले अपने इष्टदेव का सिमरण अवश्य करें।
18. घर में पढ़ने वाले बच्चों का मुंह पूर्व तथा पढ़ाने वाले का उत्तर की ओर होना चाहिए।
19. घर के मध्य भाग में जूठे बर्तन साफ करने का स्थान नहीं बनाना चाहिए।
दंपति का बेडरूम उत्तर-पश्चिम क्षेत्र से कटा हो तो पति-पत्नी में से किसी एक को सेहत संबंधी परेशानी बनी रहती है। छोटा सा शीशा टांग देने से दंपति ऊर्जावान अनुभव करने लगता है।
20.रसोई घर में गुड़ अवश्य रखें इससे घर में सुख-शान्ति आती है।
21. ऑफिस में आप स्वंय को निर्णय लेने में सक्षम न पाएं तो अपनी कुर्सी दीवार के साथ लगा कर बैठे। इससे निर्णय लेने की क्षमता तो बढ़ेगी ही सफलता आपके कदम चूमेगी।
22.जब मकान बनाना आरंभ करें तो सबसे पहले बोरिंग,चौकीदार का कमरा फिर बाहरी दीवार बनवायें। ऐसा करने से काम समय पर पूरा होता है और कोई विलंब नहीं आता।
23.डबलबेड के लिए सिंगल गद्दा उपयोग में लाएं।
24. मां अन्नपूर्णा की कृपा चाहते हैं तो रसोई घर में पवित्रता व स्वच्छता बना कर रखें।
25.घर में रखी जाने वाली धार्मिक पुस्तकों, बच्चों की किताबों व व्यापार में उपयोग होने वाले रजिस्टर इत्यादि पर शुभ चिन्ह अवश्य बनाएं।
