Is sound a particle or not? - Manish Jain - 11-28-2024

Questions asked in Jury on ACOUSTICS - BUILDING SERVICE STUDIO-III

Faculty of Planning and Architecture, Poornima University , Jaipur

Is sound a particle or not?
Sound is not a particle; it is a mechanical wave caused by the vibration of particles in a medium. Sound cannot travel in a vacuum because it needs a medium (like air or water) to propagate.
Example: In space, where there is no air, astronauts cannot hear each other directly, even if they are shouting.
